Two childhood friends from Brea are playing football for two Top 10 nationally ranked college teams. Both young men recently participated with their teams in nationally televised bowl games.

Michael Frisina, a 2009 graduate of Brea Olinda High School, is a kicker for the Boise State Broncos, who enjoyed a decisive victory in the WAACO Las Vegas Bowl. Boise finished the 2011-12 season ranked sixth in the USA Today poll and eighth in the AP poll.

Ryan Hagen, a 2009 graduate of Troy High School, is a member of the 2012 Rose Bowl and PAC12 champions, the Oregon Ducks. Ryan, a sophomore defensive lineman on the team, also traveled with the team to the 2011 BCS championship game in Phoenix last year. Oregon finished the 2011-12 season ranked fourth in the AP and USA Today polls.

Ryan and Mike have been friends since they played t-ball and soccer together in Brea in elementary school. Both boys actively enjoy supporting each other’s success and recently got together with their families during their holiday breaks to celebrate their amazing team.   Story by Susan Gaede.
