I chose to run for the Brea School Board so that I may be an active participant in the decisions that affect our school district. I would like to be part of a community that makes the education of our children their top priority.

I have lived in Brea for 11 years and enjoy the small town feel of Brea and the many connections I have with Brea residents. I have 3 children who attend the BOUSD; at the elementary level, the junior high level and the high school level. I have a position with the City of Brea as an account technician which gives me the opportunity to interact with the community and have an inside view of what is happening within Brea. I believe in giving back to our community and have served as a PTA President, Band Booster President, Site Council Member, and a Board Member of the Brea Education Foundation. You can also find me on the field as a team mom or coach for Softball and Pop Warner. These positions have allowed me to be on the school campuses and have a better understanding of the needs of our teachers, staff, families and students. We need to make sure we provide our teachers with the necessary tools, training and mentoring to adequately educate our children. We must also ensure that methods of accountability are in place, so that each member of our team understands his or her responsibility and that parents, children, teachers, administrators, staff and school board members can fulfill these responsibilities effectively.

One of my goals is to build a stronger relationship and unity between the school district, City of Brea, Brea businesses and the community. The District is facing budget challenges and I believe we need to look to other resources. Building these relationships could help provide the District with these resources. I would like the transparency and communication between the school board and families to be better. "Together we can!" make a difference in the successes of our future generation.
