Step aside Breans, there’s a new Mr. Brea in town
121 days ago by bbonadmin
Jared Love was named Mr. Brea in a pageant similar to the Miss America Pageant held at the Brea Olinda High School Performing Arts Center on 12-12-12. Physics teacher Phil Henderson was named teacher Mr. Brea. Derek Anderson, senior, and Jonathan Gunther, history teacher, were both crowned Mr. Brea 2012 runner-ups.
ASB was in charge of the event chaired by the 2012 Associated Student Body/Fine Arts Commissioner Anna Blaho. Her theme for Mr. Brea 2012 was “Men of America.” The new Mr. Brea and teacher Mr. Brea were both crowned by a former teacher Mr. Brea, Jonathan Quiming.
Jared sang and played the guitar with a performance of “Then” for his talent accompanied by his band. He said the pageant was more work than he expected, but had a great time. His first love is baseball. His favorite food is black and blu steak. Jared said it was awesome making friends with people in the pageant that he would not have met otherwise.
Phil Henderson also showcased his musical talents by singing an Irish folk song while his dog Woody sat by his side. Phil said he participated in the first Teacher Mr. Brea contest in 1992. He noted all the guys were so creative this year.
Other contestants in the fun to watch pageant included Men of America: Jacob Elais, Izzy Perez, Craig Patton, Joshua Vizcayz, Samuel Cho, Jonathan Davis, and Jason Muehloff. Other teachers: Matt Sorenson, Jonathan Gunter, and Omar Barcenas.

BBON ‘All Things Brea’ Amateur Photo Contest Winner
281 days ago by bbonadmin
We have a winner of our BBON ‘All Things Brea’ Amateur Photo Contest! By popular vote, the photo titled “4th of July Fun” was one of three final contestants and was declared the winner today by Greg Voisan Panoramic Photography based on our criteria: Something that depicts life in Brea. Something that is identifiable as being Brea. An artistic photograph inspired by living in the city of Brea.
In the words of Greg Voisan: I feel this image captures the contest of "All Things Brea" the best and depicts a day when Breans of all ages come out to celebrate our community. On the technical side of things, I like how the image was framed with the main subject on the side which makes it interesting as well as draws you eye to see what is in the background. Great shot and congratulations.
The photo was submitted by Christina Eisenmann Gerberding. Her description: We had a great time at the 4th Of July Country Fair, at the Brea City Hall Park. This is a picture of my daughter Katie playing a
t the playground, I love her smile and she looks so cute in her 4th of July Dress : )
We thank everyone for participating. A special thanks to our judge, Greg Voisan Panoramic Photography, www.gvpano.com and Ana Ceja Realtor,www.anaceja.com, for providing the cash prize of $100.00.
