Save the date: City of Brea Centennial Angels Night on Tuesday, July 18 at 7:00 p.m. 2017

Many of us may have heard about "The Big Game" held on Halloween in 1924 in Brea between Brea’s baseball hero, Walter Johnson aka “The Big Train” and his friend, Babe Ruth aka "The Sultan of Swat.” At the time, the city’s population was approximately 1,500 people, but due to the popular game they had to accommodate 5,000 fans!

Fast-forward to 2017 and mark your calendars to attend Brea Centennial Night to be held at Angels Stadium on Tuesday, July 18, Angels, VS, Washington Nationals (interleague), 7:00 p.m.

Lots of fun things are in the planning stages such as a tailgate party (awesome), exclusive ticket offer to include centennial memorabilia (cool), selected seating (yay), Play Ball kid (unforgettable), Steal Third, 7th inning stretch (an experience), Game Ball Delivery (sweet), and pre- and post event history videos (pride)!

We hope to see y'all there!

  • The 25th Annual Brea 8K Classic marks another year of success

    4 years ago by

    Brea 8k results 1444191595128

It was another beautiful day in our city at the 25th Anniversary Brea 8k Classic. What an incredible race day, resulting in a record breaking 3,334 participants!

The volunteers began to arrived at 3:00 a.m. at the Brea Mall and the set up process began. The course was constructed, finish line created, and the T-shirts and Goodie bags were ready!

The sponsors arrived by 6:00 am setting up the wonderful food court and expo area. Then the fog rolled in with a crisp cool mist (which runners love by the way). Such excitement was in the air. It was the beginning of a wonderful event for families, teams, athletes, and friends.

The participants were comprised of many age groups, who came from all over the land and met the challenge of this course. They crossed that big blue Brea 8k finish line knowing that they had succeeded once again or for the first time. It must be similar to the feeling our 8k Board members have when we finally pack up the 8k after months of preparation and put everything away for yet another year, thinking we did it! We really did, even better than last year and I can't wait till next year.

Please join us Sunday February 26th 2017. It will definetely be another exciting year with a special weekend anniversary celebration of Brea's 100th year!

Thank you Brea Mall and all our sponsors for another very successful event! Thank you City of Brea and our wonderful Police and Fire Dept for keeping us all safe.

On behalf of the Brea 8K Board , GITA (Global IT Academy), Academic Booster Club, Instrumental Music & Color Guard Boosters and Choir Music Boosters, we thank you for your continued support year after year of this wonderful fundraiser!

  • BOHS Ladycats make State Finals after six years

    5 years ago by

BOHS Ladycats Coach Jeff Sink must be feeling very good as he heads to the CIF State Championship (first time in six years) this Friday, March 27 at 2:00 p.m. at Haas Pavillion in Berkeley-- after defeating Eldorado 50-46 this past Saturday, for the CIF Southern California Division III Regional.

Interesting to note that our amazing Ladycats have six freshman players. (As seen on OC Varsity) Freshman forward Tyiona Watkins is ecstatic that her team consisting of six freshman players has made it this far and is this close to winning a State Championship. Senior guard, Shaylissa Jarrett, their best and toughest team member who played the last game with a spranged ankle said, “I’m pretty messed up now. I wasn’t supposed to play for another two weeks, but you know this is it. You get one chance at state.”

Any donation to help our BOHS Ladycats raise money to head to the State Finals is welcomed!
