Deadline approaching for 2014 Mayor’s Youth Award Program

    The City of Brea Mayor’s Youth Community Service Award deadline is approaching for high school teens residing in Brea, including those attending Brea Olinda High School, Brea Canyon High School, Sonora High School, Troy High School, El Dorado High School and any private or home school. The Mayor’s Youth Award tracking forms must be turned in on Thursday, May 1 at the Brea Family Resource Center in order to receive recognition for their efforts.

      Juniors who have met the service criteria, 120 hours of community service, will receive a letter from the Mayor, which documents their service, to submit with college or job applications. Seniors who meet the service criteria, 160 hours of community service, will be presented with a medallion at their Senior Awards Night and receive special recognition by the City of Brea.

        Interested students have the opportunity to volunteer at organizations such as American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, area hospitals, Brea Senior Center, Brea Community Center, convalescent homes, Habitat for Humanity, Humane Society, Meals on Wheels, Salvation Army, soup kitchens, etc.
