Brea Old and New: Tick-Tock, History Isn't So Boring After All™ ~ Charlie the Clock

Hollywood sign turns 90 – Brea sign just a thought

6 years ago by in ( City Guide , Events , Hotspots , News , Old/New , Welcome to Brea )

Celebrating a milestone birthday, The Hollywood sign perched high atop the Hollywood Hills above Los Angeles turned 90 years old yesterday. Originally created to advertise local real estate, it became a symbol of the powerful movie industry and of the 'tourist attraction'.

Brea is just over three years away from our centennial year in 2017. There has been talk about placing a BREA sign high above our city on our beautiful hillside backdrop to commensurate the landmark occasion. Maybe it would look like the one we planted on our Brea Old and New website header (look above). Wouldn’t it be a great source of pride dedicated to all the citizens of Brea’s past, present, and future! Just a thought!
