New school year brings two new principals

Another summer has come and gone. We hope everyone had a wonderful summer filled with great memories with family and friends. The Brea school 2012-2013 new year has started today. We have two new principals, Karen VanDine at Arovista Elementary and Susan Metcalf at Fanning Elementary.

Karen worked at Arovista teaching 6th grade for 13 years and 4th grade students an additional two years. She obtained her administrative credentials and was acting principal for former Arovista principal Dr. Olmstead’s behalf, taking over the position during the last two months of the 2011-2012 school year. Dr. Christine Olmstead moved on and is now working at the Orange County Department of Education, dedicated to support professional development and student learning in Orange County school districts.

Working as assistant principal at Travis Ranch School in Yorba Linda, Susan Metcalf started her new position at Fanning Elementary replacing Brenda Clark, former Fanning principal who retired.  Brenda, who served as Fanning’s principal for many years, had a great impact on the school’s development goals. We wish her well in her retirement.

Let’s welcome Karen and Susan as we look forward to another outstanding school year.
