By Susan Gaede

Many people in Brea know Joan and Frank Kawase. They have resided in Brea for 40 plus years. Frank was manager with brother Ray of Ray’s market on Brea Blvd.  Joan was known as Miss Joan because she was director and taught the Tiny Tots program. The couple recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Their children John,Theresa, Jennifer and Kristina  did an outstanding job of planning creating a memorable 50th. John is now residing in Japan and came home for the celebrations.

Relatives came from all over U.S. Twenty-five relatives continued celebrating the next day by going to Yosemite National Park. Frank and Joan  made it to the top of Half Dome 15 years ago: Frank made it to the top for the second time at his age so that is another reason to celebrate. However, it took much longer to hike up and down totaling  17 miles.
They continued celebrating by going with Musical Theater West Travel Club to New York City. They just returned this week after five days, 4 plays, touring Ellis Is, Statue Liberty, the harbor cruise, tour of the Grand Central Terminal, seeing friends that live there and eating at various well known restaurants. “We feel so blessed to be able to celebrate our journey together and having loving and caring family and friends” the couple said.

Joan and Frank Kawase celebrated their 50th anniversary with a big bash.
